When Prescott's Your Peacekeeper Prepare for War!

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more embarrassing for the Labour Party up steps the Labour Party’s greatest embarrassment sticks his head up.

John Prescott says he has "no doubt" Labour will lose the next general election if MPs continue sniping over the party's leadership succession.
Mr Prescott said he had been mediating between Mr Blair and Gordon Brown through "that terrible week last week".

That probably explains why everything went to ratshit in a barrel and knives were drawn at all sides.

Notice though that Prescott can’t say anything like all this fighting is bad for Britain, no it’s all about winning another election. That’s the only thing that matters to these junket hogging parasites, it’s all about staying in power.

I really hope one of them turned to Prescott and said “I have no doubt that Labour will lose the next general election if you keep reaming your secretary, swallowing tax payers’ money and doing absolutely fuck all other than being a fat fucking fecktard, now don’t you have a croquet game to be playing?”

Asked if the backbiting could mean Labour losing the next election, Mr Prescott told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I have no doubt about it if we were doing that for a few more weeks - I have no doubt it will affect us. We have not got the luxury of... making press comments in the way that's been last week without the electorate saying... 'we can't support this government'."

Er.... the public don’t support this government Prezza.... where have you been since May? Your current polls show 30-32% at best. Event the betting markets are showing Tories as having the most seats come next time round. You were going to lose before all this ferret sack fighting started.

Mr Prescott said: "I agree there's been some strong comments made by Members of Parliament, but I say to my colleagues, you're one third of the election process.

It’s worth noting that phrase.... the MP’s are one third the election process. 360 MPs carry the same voting weight as the entire Labour Party membership.

See Political Betting’s excellent article for the details.

Actually, this morning on Today, and I am choking on this, I thought I caught a glimpse of the Prescott of whom Labour insiders have sometimes spoken in terms of praise. Once I had translated his words into English, I saw an effective party machine man talking what some would receive as political commonsense. Am I VERY unwell?

I'd be prepared to believe that Prescott is an 'effective party machine man'... after all he's just the sort of rabble rouser that the unions and labour party love to hear.

They just shouldn't let him near the public that's all because when it comes to sorting things out with a view to public perception which is all important when winning elections Prescott is about as effective as Play-Doh

I expect Prescott will refuse to shoulder any personal blame for his part in helping bring down the next government. He is a big asset to Conservatives.

Dear John will soon be ennobled for his contribution to the party.

He is to be entitled the 'Count of Houmberside'.
